My Journey in teaching
When I reached my teens I realised I wanted to be a teacher. Through my
school days I got the idea that teachers were very important, they had
authority, and they led children and supported them and I thought they knew
lots of things and had a wonderful job.
And I was not wrong, I love to be a teacher, everyday when I get to
school I am eager to be with the girls I teach, spend the day with them, share
my knowledge, play and have fun working.
I teach pre-school girls, this present year 5 year-olds, and it is a
priveledge to be with them when they begin to learn, to discover books, to do
their first writing, and to guide them in this new areas.
My day is quite complete and time flies, I go from one thing to the
next, trying always to be true to my principles and to give the best of me.
Being a teacher is a continuous challenge, every student is different
and you cannot guess what difficulties may arise and what things you may need
to address during the school year. Also, it is a very rewarding job, when you
see a student progressing you feel so happy that you have helped, that your
efforts have been achieved.
I have worked in different institutions, and a few years ago I did work
for a while abroad, in Ireland. All this has enriched my views, I have learnt
new skills and every experience has had good effects on my teaching.
If I was to go back in time I would choose again teaching as a career,
as for me it has been a success, it is certainly the best job.
